Automobiles and the Department of Motor Vehicles (MVD)

The State of Arizona requires all residents to obtain an Arizona Driver's license as soon as residency is established.  There is no grace period.  Your vehicles must be registered at that time as well and all cars built after 1966 must pass emissions testing.  Arizona imposes a motor vehicle license tax instead of a personal property tax on vehicles.  The inital tax base is 60% of the manufacturer's list price on new vehicles and it is reduced by 14% per year thereafter.  The tax rate is 4% of assessed valuation.  The minimum vehicle license tax is $10 and payments are due when you register you vehicle.  Of course every car must be insured for bodily injury and property damage before it can be registered.

Climate in Arizona

The Grand Canyon State offers all the world's climate zones.  Arizona can be divided into five distinct climate zones.  The southern part of the State is filled with desert valleys.  To the North the landscape changes to canyons, forests.  The West offers lakes and sandy beaches.  The East is made up of lush green forests and more lakes.  The central part of the state, the Phoenix metro area, is a flat desert terrain dotted with small mountains.  In the Phoenix area annually there are over 300 days of sunshine and low humidity.  The average high temperature is 88 degrees Farenheit and the average low is 64 degrees Farenheit.

Arizona Commerce, Economy and Employment

Arizona is enjoying explosive population growth and we have the second best job market in the country.  The population in Maricopa County has increased almost 45% percent over the past 10 years.  The largest migration seems to be from California.  According to the Phoenix Business Journal the top employers in Maricoa County are Wal-Mart with close to 20,000 employees, Banner Health Systems with about 14,000 employees, Honeywell International with 12,000 employees, Intel with 10,000 employees, Alberstons and Bashas both with close to 10,000 employees.  Below you will find links to answer all of your AZ economic and commerce questions.
